Today was my first week back face to face in school, and even though it is much different than what I am used to, I am very excited to see how it goes. As well as, today was my first A day, meaning I had my first ISM class, and now that I am sure of my course of study, which is psychology. Just in the short few weeks of researching my topic, I have gained so much knowledge about psychology as a whole, and right now am learning about all the different types of mental disorders. I've learned a lot about the three most deadly or high-risk conditions, including Major Depression, Anorexia, Anxiety, and some other big ones. These three stood out the most because they hit close to the heart just mainly because not only myself but also some close friends and family have dealt with these mental disorders. I had even realized that there are over 200 mental illnesses, and in my opinion, I believe every person has or will or is dealing with one of them. I have to keep looking deeper and researching, but what I have gained so far has made me come to believe that this statement might very well be true. I have also realized that many of these illnesses work together as one, therefore saying that a person can have way more than just one disorder. One of the most-well known combinations would be Depression and Anxiety, which I found fascinating. Overall, these weeks of researching, although I know I have so much more I have to look into and keep learning. I do feel I learned a lot about the three primary disorders I focused on this research assessment. And cannot wait to keep looking into more mental disorders in the following weeks to come.
