Mental Illness is just a temporary part

This week I was researching just the overall symptoms and signs of mental illnesses. Although signs and symptoms can defer, it can also be ubiquitous in a specific disorder. The article "Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms'' helped me figure out some of the mental illnesses I find most intriguing such as depression and anxiety; little did I know those are just a category for many different disorders within each category. For anxiety disorder, different disorders would be under the anxiety disorder category as a whole; general anxiety disorder, phobias, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or otherwise known as (OCD) are just some of the different disorders that follow under anxiety. When it comes to the different symptoms, it differs from each category and from there to each illness. Panic attacks and panic disorder, although sound very similar if not the same, actually are looked at as very different. Panic attacks which are defined by the article (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and symptoms” page 3) as "Fear of imminent death leading to heart palpitations, choking, nausea, faintness, dizziness, chest pains, and sweating." as for panic disorder it is a "fear of situations which may cause a panic Bauer 2 attack." Therefore, they are considered two different disorders but would be looked at as one case the other. If a person has a panic disorder, they are most likely to suffer from panic attacks as a whole anxiety disorder, which is considered "a group of disorders that affect behavior, thoughts, emotions, and physical health—caused by biological and situational circumstances. Heightened and continuing Types of anxiety disorder". (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms” page 3). When it comes down to mental illness, regardless of age, ethnic background, income, or gender, it can affect anyone—addictions, a mental illness mainly because it is complicated by drugs and alcohol use. A study shows in the article (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms” page 2). that "up to 50% of people who use mental health services also report having alcohol and drug issues as part of your recovery plan" that could be after or before finding out they have a mental disorder. "People may use drugs or alcohol to reduce [the symptoms of substance use ofthen] , reduce prescription drugs, can worsen symptoms and complicate the diagnosis, treatment and care process" (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms” page 1). Depression is a prevalent and first mental disorder a person can receive when going through a trauma. Having personal trauma is a significant reason people deal with many mental disorders and addictions; if not on a recovery plan could lead to alcohol and drug issues later down the road. Depression, which is under mood disorders and bipolar disorder, comes with a lot of different symptoms. Depression which is defined as "prolonged feelings of discouragement, frustration and even a sense of despair"... "...a biochemical imbalance in the brain or persistent psychological factors such as a negative or pessimistic view of life" (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms” page 1). As for depressions symptoms, it comes with quite a few such as; "irritability, anxious mood, trouble sleeping or too much sleep, loss of energy, pains, and aches, feeling of boredom, imagining you have an illness such as cancer even when there are no physical indications, worthlessness and hopelessness, suicidal thoughts, personal grooming, isolation, and inability to experience joy" (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms” page 1). With that information, it can be easy to diagnose or be very hard even to tell that a Bauer 3 person could be going through these symptoms. As the article states, each person's brain can react and take it differently, but the symptoms for each disorder more or so stay the same. Treatment and recovery can be a very easy or difficult road for a person, as stated in the article, "for any mental illness, whether or not it caused from drugs and alcohol misuse, or just... [natural]... should occur as soon as symptoms appear [should approach treatment as soon as possible" (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms” page 4). There are a total of four treatments and recovery plans that are listed in the article, first is "education" then leading onto "medication" following to "psychological therapy or counseling" which lastly goes to "social, employment and education support" (“Major Mental Illnesses Signs and Symptoms” page 4). While reading this article, I am comparing the main articles that I have read before, which I agree with the most so far. Having an education on the disorder and just some background knowledge should help with the treatment throughout the recovery. Therefore, this article has helped me come to terms and understand more background information on treatments and recovery plans and more about anxiety and depression as a whole.
